Intensive outpatient group therapy and parenting support (4 1/2 hours per week)
The Mother-Baby Perinatal Outpatient Program (POP), like the Mother-Baby Day Hospital, serves pregnant individuals and mothers of children ages 0-5 years old who are experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder or other emotional distress that make it difficult to:
- Function at home or at work
- Take care of themselves or their baby
- Bond and connect with their baby

How is POP different than the Mother-Baby Day Hospital?
POP is considered a step-down or less intensive option than the Mother-Baby Day Hospital. There are a few important differences:
- If medication consultation is needed, our staff will help get you connected with an outpatient psychiatrist.
- POP meets 90 minutes per day, 3 days per week, virtually.
- Most people attend POP for 8-12 weeks. This is a longer program than the Mother-Baby Day Hospital, but meets fewer hours per week.
How is POP similiar to the Mother-Baby Day Hospital?
POP provides individualized treatment and is similar in the following ways:
- Mental health treatment supports mothers' well-being, relationships and parenting;
- A powerful aspect of the program is talking with other mothers who have similar experiences;
- Mothers with babies less than 12 months old are encouraged to bring their baby with them.
